We all need to play our part in the Government’s vision to help people live well for longer.


Social connections are important. When people feel lonely most or all of the time, it can cause serious harm. The health impacts are thought to be on a par with other pressures like obesity or smoking. Research shows that loneliness is associated with increased risk of depression, low self-esteem, sleep problems and higher stress levels.


Age Concern Bracknell Forest are playing their part. From January 2019 we are relaunching our weekly “Get Together” events under the new name of “The Wednesday Club”.

Under the moniker “GOAL” – grow older and learn we will be encouraging older people to try a variety of new physical and mental activities to improve wellbeing and reduce social isolation. We are also able to signpost attendees at these sessions to other services that may need as they age. The support provided at these events helps enable older people to remain living independently for as long as possible.
